Home/Roofing

Roofing contractor in Lawton, Oklahoma

Shingle repairs, full re-roofs and storm damage across Comanche County. John gets on the roof himself and tells you what is up there.

Repair or replace

Two honest answers, and he will tell you which one you have

Roofs in Lawton tend to fail the same way. The south slope bakes all summer, the shingles curl and go brittle, and the first hard wind peels a strip off the ridge.

Sometimes a repair buys you five more years and costs a fraction of a new roof. Sometimes the decking under the felt has gone soft, and patching it is money spent on a roof that is already finished. John goes up, takes photographs, and shows you which situation you are in.

  • Shingle repair and patching
  • Full tear-off and re-roof
  • Rotten decking cut out and replaced
  • Ridge, valley and pipe boot flashing
  • Chimney flashing and new caps
  • Vents, turbines and skylight flashing

How a re-roof runs

Four days, in this order

  1. Look and price

He walks the roof, photographs the failures, measures the squares and gives you a number. No charge for any of it.

  2. Tear off

Old shingles and felt come off to the bare deck. Any wood that has gone soft gets cut out and replaced that day.

  3. Dry in

Underlayment goes down over the whole deck, then the drip edge, valley metal and pipe boots. Your house is watertight from here.

  4. Shingle and clear

Architectural shingle goes on, ridge vent caps it, and the yard gets swept and magnet-rolled for nails before he leaves.

Questions

About your roof

Is a re-roof a one-day job?
A normal Lawton house runs two to four days once the crew starts, weather permitting. Bigger roofs and steep pitches take longer, and John tells you the number of days when he prices it.
If you find rotten decking, do I pay more?
He photographs it, calls you the same day, and tells you what replacing it adds before he cuts anything out. Nobody likes that phone call, and it is better than covering bad wood with a new roof.
Do you clean up the nails?
Yes. The yard gets swept and rolled with a magnet, and the tear-off goes in the trailer rather than sitting on your grass over the weekend.
Can you patch it for now?
Often, yes. If the decking is sound and the failure is in one area, a repair is the sensible move and he will say so.
